About:
I'm originally from the state capital of Thuringia, the beautiful
Erfurt.
During my primary school enrollment scouted the former GDR sports
system me during sport activity in school and suggested me to train
as a pair skater. This plan was abandoned after the first test
training because of child's shyness. Because I wouldn't
demonstrate my skills in running bounces in front of the attending
mothers and their children. This was finally the ultimately and
early career end.
This end paved the way to make my own decisions and I joined the
swimm club and was from now on every week in the pool. After
completing the elementary school I moved to the Pierre de Coubertin
Gymnasium which is an elite school of sport. This sport school
allows high school students not only the particular sport at an ever
higher level of exercise, but teaches the children teamwork and
pro-social skills, determination and discipline. Properties which I
didn't forgot after my sporting career and help me then and now,
even outside of the sport.
I did great at this time and got many Thuringian (and later
Hessian) youth and senior titles during my school days. Later on I
also made several international competitions, such as the European
Youth Championships, international matches and some World Cups.
After high school I was accepted in the Bundeswehr. Because of my
good performance I made it into the army sports camp where you are
allowed to do your sport and you do not have to do normal armywork.
So I could continue to reach goal of becoming a successful swimmer .
After two years in this camp I began my studies with bioinformatics
(diploma) in Frankfurt because my academic development is also
extremely really important. The swimming wasn't over. I continued in
the team in Frankfurt and also achieved further success here.
Because of that it was possible for me in summer 2008 to study two
semesters at the University of Indianapolis (USA). A special
highlight of my stay in America was my four-month internship at a
bioinformatics lab which works closely with the American Cancer
Research Center. In addition, I ended my career with several
personal bests and university records, and three medals at the
American Students Championships (NCAA's Houston).
By the end of my sport, I can now fully concentrate on my academic
career and look confidently into the future!
